Seven Valleys, PA, 21 March 2025 – Congressman Lloyd Smucker, of Pennsylvania’s 11th congressional district, visits a production facility of PD Power Systems power generation and power distribution equipment at Mercury Electronics in Seven Valleys, Pennsylvania.
As part of a visit to the local area, Congressman Smucker visited Mercury Electronics, located in York County, PA. Mercury Electronics began in 1946 and is a leading provider of electrical and electronic manufacturing services for the commercial and military industries. Their products include specialized cable assemblies, wire harnesses, and manufacturing electrical enclosures and panels.
During the plant tour, Mercury Electronics featured PD Power Systems’ power equipment, including the electronic components for the 72kW Ground Power Unit (GPU) for the U.S. Air Force. The 72kW GPU is part of the Ground Power Modernization program, in which PD Power Systems was awarded a maximum $482,000,000 IDIQ contract in November 2022.
In addition to the 72KW GPU, Mercury Electronics also produces the Power Distribution Center (PDC) for the Deployable Power Generation and Distribution System (DPGDS) 900kW Prime Power Units (PPU). These state-of-the-art power units support multiple U.S. Army organizations and critical missions, including the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
Mercury Electronics is also PD Power Systems’ choice for production for our newly awarded contract, the Prime Power Distribution System (PPDS) program. PDPS was recently awarded the $114M PPDS program in February 2025. These products will work hand-in-hand with the DPGDS PPUs, providing reliable and versatile power to our deployed warfighters.
“PD Power Systems’ choice of Mercury Electronics has awarded both entities the complementary roles each play toward the service we provide supporting our Warfighters,” stated Mazen Badr, President and COO of PD Power Systems.PD Power Systems’ partnership with Mercury Electronics began several years ago with the production of the prototype units for the Intelligent Power Management System (IPMS) – Intelligent Power Distribution (IPD) program, then expanded into producing other power distribution equipment products. PD Power Systems is proud to support and source U.S. manufacturing companies to build critical power equipment for the U.S. military.
