PD Power Systems, LLC receives $50M ceiling increase for the DPGDS program

Springfield, VA March 14, 2025 – PD Power Systems, LLC, a privately held Veteran-Owned Small Business, announced today that it received a $50M contract ceiling increase for the recapitalization of the Deployable Power Generation and Distribution System (DPGDS) Prime Power Units (PPU) program.

The contract ceiling increase is to allow Government procurement of up to 180 of PD Power Systems’ one-of-a-kind 900kW Prime Power Units (PPU) to support Warfighter needs. The power units support multiple U.S. Army organizations to include the 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power)/FEMA, Force Provider Expeditionary, and various current and future Missile Defense Agency (MDA) programs. The power units are designed for operation in the stringent and harsh operational environments encountered in the field.

Mr. Mazen Badr, President and COO of PD Power Systems, said, “These large power systems with one-of-a-kind proven High Altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP) protection systems, provide critical power generation to base camps, aircraft fleets, and military radar sensors. PD Power Systems is proud to offer these unique and needed capabilities. Our hardware is accompanied by Comprehensive Logistics Life Cycle Planning / Execution / Support.”

PD Power Systems currently offers three (3) variations of the DPGDS power unit:

  • MEP-PU-810C – The MEP-PU-810C model power unit is mounted on a two-axle wagon-style chassis equipped with surge actuated hydraulic brakes, a lunette-ring hitch tow bar, and is designed for low-speed mobility (up to 20mph), towed by vehicles without trailer brake controllers.
  • MEP-PU-810D – The MEP-PU-810D model power unit is mounted on a two-axle chassis, equipped with air actuated brakes, a 5th wheel kingpin hitch, and is compliant for the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) transport at highway speeds (up to 55mph), towed by tractor/trailer vehicles.
  • MEP-PU-810 DC – The MEP-PU-810 DC model power unit includes all the features of the D model built with additional power control and switching characteristics.

PD Power Systems was originally awarded the Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) type contract with hybrid combination Fixed Price Incentive Firm Target (FPIFT) and Firm Fixed Price (FFP) type CLINS in April 2017. The contract called for the recapitalization of the original MEP-PU-810A and B units (now MEP-PU-810C and D units) by replacing the engines, refurbishing the generators, upgrading the cooling system and controls, as well as many other modifications and improvements to modernize the system.
