Springfield, VA October 1, 2025 – PD Power Systems, LLC announced that it received multiple awards totaling $10.5M for power and distribution systems and auxiliary equipment in support of the Missile Defense Agency’s (MDA) Army/Navy Transportable Radar Surveillance forward base mode system (AN/TPY-2) and Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) ballistic missile defense system. The PD Power Systems 900kW Deployable Power Generation and Distribution System (DPGDS) power unit has been the choice to support our most critical defense/radar systems.
Furthermore, the same 900kW power unit has been specified to be the future prime power source for the Golden Dome of America program.
Golden Dome is a multi-layered space-based defense system for the United States, intended to detect and destroy various foreign threats. According to Executive Order 14186, the architecture for Golden Dome includes eight critical and complementary components, several of which will also require rugged and reliable power systems. The PD Power Systems’ Prime Power Unit was specified by MDA to power the global surveillance capability’s most advanced radar system. PD Power Systems is working with many Primes to support both power and distribution infrastructure for the future Golden Dome with proven results.
Along with the AN/TPY-2 and THAAD systems, the DPGDS power unit also supports the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) and is the 249th Engineer Battalion (Prime Power)/FEMA and Force Provider Expeditionary source for power.
Additionally, PD Power Systems offers a 1.0 MW Tactical Power Plant (P-GDPS) that was developed to support the LTAMDS program. This modernized system provides more mobile, reliable, and logistically supportable tactical electrical power sources for the Department of Defense’s 21st century digitized forces.
Support equipment for PD Power Systems power units includes the power transmission HEMP shielded cabling known as Whiskey Cables. The Whiskey Cables are the power and communication control cables for the AN/TPY-2, THAAD, and LTAMDS radar systems.
