PD Power Systems, LLC receives award to develop new US Army generator
SPRINGFIELD, VA September 19, 2022 – PD Power Systems announced today that it received a Cost Plus Fixed Fee Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) award from the Government to develop the Large Tactical Power System (LTPS) in support of US Army field operations. The LTPS is an Army Power Plant (PP) consisting of two 500kW generators, Power Distribution Unit (PDU) and distribution cables. PD Power Systems is one of two awardees selected for this effort.
LTPS is a modernization program managed by the Product Lead, Large Power Systems (LPS) that will provide more mobile, reliable, and logistically supportable tactical electric power sources for the DoD’s 21st century digitized forces. The LTPS is a 500kW tactical power source designed to meet standard DoD power requirements, in skid mounted sets and trailer mounted PP configuration. It is anticipated that the contractor will build four (4) LTPS prototypes in order to support testing.
“The selection of PD Power Systems as one of two contractors and being given the opportunity to support the critical power needs for the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) program, reflects our background, experience, and technical capabilities that meet the requirements of this program and similar power needs on other products that support other critical programs. We are honored to have the confidence of the LTPS program customers and are excited to deliver,” stated Mazen Badr, President of PD Power Systems.
PD Power Systems also produces the Deployable Power Generation and Distribution System (DPGDS) power units for the US Army. The 800kW power units support various operations and programs, providing medium voltage of 4160/3800VAC at 60/50Hz.
